DeepHost

Managing a large number of instances of OpenSimulator can be a pain - we realised this early on, and have spent the last two years refining and developing solutions to help large (and small) providers launch reliable services on OpenSimulator.

Best of all - using DeepHost, you can actually save money on your hosting fees using our integrated 'cloud' system that allows you to host your regions on EC2, GoGrid, Flexiscale and other cloud providers allowing you to only pay for the regions and server time that you need to use. Setup of these regions is fully automated - our software automatically downloads, installs and configures itself on your instances no human involvement. All ready to go in five minutes or less.

What does DeepHost provide?

DeepHost provides a fully automated system that provides crash recovery, remote administration, easy setup and deployment as well as ongoing management interfaces. We've designed this system to be usable for both large and small users with a target audience of everyone between 3 and 3000 servers.

Automated Installs

Enter an administrator username and password, and our server will connect using either SSH (Linux) or WMI (Windows), download, install and configure OpenSimulator and our launcher software. No hassle, no mess - very quick.

Crash Detection and Reboots

Our system provides instant crash detection and will automatically restart downed regions with minimal hassle.

Automated Updates

Want to update 10,000 Simulator instances? Edit your template config and issue a refresh request - every simulator will shutdown and deploy your new version. You can even run multiple batches each with differing or customized versions.

Sandboxing (Windows-Only)

Our DeepHost panel can provide sandboxing capabilities for your simulator instances - allowing memory limits and processor usage limits to be enforced preventing malicious users from affecting other regions and simulators.

Cloud Computing / Virtual Machine Support

We support a number of commercial 'cloud computing' providers by default, including Amazon EC2, GoGrid, Flexiscale and more. Each provide unique capabilities or pricing and we support all of them 'out of the box'. You can provision new instances automatically in our software from the main management webpage. We configure and install them - letting you scale your business up during peak periods with minimal hassle or interruption to service.

Cross-Compatible

DeepHost's launcher is compatible with both Windows and Linux, our automated installers can deploy on both operating systems with minimal hassle and work, and the vast majority of our features (excluding operating system features) work seamlessly across all platforms.

Is it compatible with RealXtend, Tribal Server and other OpenSimulator Derivatives?

We're glad to say - yes. When we designed this system we made sure that other OpenSimulator based software would run smoothly ontop of DeepHost with minimal effort - you can customize the basic templates we provide to allow distinct and custom installs of OpenSimulator matching your requirements.

Can we automate it?

Yes! Our goal has been to make this easy to integrate into an existing system - all the functionalities used in the DeepHost system can be accessed remotely via a SOAP-compatible interface, we also provide a reference version of the management panel in ASP.NET (PHP coming soon!) which includes full source code for customization.

What does it cost?

DeepHost is licensed on a per-server fee (this the maximum number of connected servers we allow, including 'Cloud Hosted' instances), we charge $2,000.00 USD for the base administration tool and a per-server connection fee of $100.00 per annum. This fee includes access to support and updates for any year in which you have paid for server connections.

We're still in beta, so we're providing discounts for early adopters. We also have a dedicated Education, Nonprofit and Open Source/Community channel which provides free licenses to worthy causes. If you are interested in licensing DeepHost or interested in our free license program, please Contact us.

When will the first version be released?

We're aiming at a first commercial launch in Q1 2009, we are providing heavily discounted 'beta access' to early adopters. Please Contact us for details.
